A Divan Base is essentially comprised of 2 boxes that are upholstered and clip together onsite. They have a solid platform or a sprung option. The Hand-Built Bed base comprises of a slatted base which comes in 2 sections and fits together onsite. It has fully upholstered side and foot panels so once assembled appears to be in one piece.
Railroading refers to turning the fabric 90 degrees to use it across the piece of furniture. This works well with plain fabrics when being used on a product that is wider than the fabric as it means you won't have joining seams.
As standard, our headboards are fitted to the wall with a split batten (also known as a cleat) Half of the split batten screws into the wall and the other section of the split batten stays attacehd to the back of the headboard to hang onto the wall section. The headboards go all the way to the floor so if there is a skirting board on the wall then we require the dimensions of it so we can do a cut out on the back of the headboard so it can hang flush on the wall. We can alternatively, in most cases, fit the headboard to the bed instead if required.
To pass UK Fire regulations, a fabric either needs to be FR treated or be used with an FR barrier interliner cloth. If the fabric is over 75% natural fibres and has passed a BS5852 Part 1 Source 0 (cigarette) test then we can use it with an FR interliner that we can provide. If the fabric contains 25% or more man-made fibre or has not passed the Part 1 Source 0 test, then the fabric needs to be FR treated prior to coming to us.

Care

Turn your mattress regularly. We recommend every week for the first 3 months and then once a month thereafter turning it north to south and flipping occasionally. Turning your mattress helps the upholstery fillings settle more evenly. Use a mattress protector to extend the life of your mattress. Never use detergents or chemical cleaners as they damage the inner materials. In the case of spillage damp lightly with water.
All loose cushions must be turned and rotated regularly to equalise the wear of them and prolong the life of the cushions. Feather-filled cushions, especially when used as base cushions, require regular ‘plumping’ and flipping. If this is not done their appearance and comfort level may deteriorate.
Prevent build up of dirt with regular vacuuming of items with brush attachment Dry clean only In the case of spillage damp lightly with water. Upholstery should not be exposed to direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as this may result in the fabric degrading or fading.
Specialist dry clean only Do not use water on velvet in any circumstance as this will damage the piece of the velvet Gentle brushing with a velvet brush can be used to maintain the look of the velvet Velvets can be prone to marking caused by pressure in transit or in use. Most marks can be removed by smoothing the velvet with a soft brush and/or gentle steaming. In some natural velvets, crushing is an inherent characteristic and cannot be removed.
